Who Do You Say That I AM?

WHO IS JESUS?

The Bible alone proves the identity of Christ beyond doubt. Some people don’t believe the Bible, and this discussion would be fruitless with them. Some doctrines teach Jesus was a prophet, a teacher, a god (not the God), or an angel. Yet, in the Bible Jesus asked His disciples what the word on the street was regarding His identity in Matthew 16:13. In verse 14, Jesus is told that some say he is John the Baptist, Elijah, Jeremiah, or one of the prophets. Then Jesus asked Peter in verse 15, “But who do you say that I am?” Peter answered, “Thou are the Christ [Messiah], the Son of the living God.”

Test of Deception

1 John 4:1-3 tells us, “Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits [angels or prophets] to see whether they are from God; because many false prophets have gone out into the world. By this you know the Spirit of God: every spirit that confesses that Jesus Christ has come in the flesh is from God; and every spirit that does not confess Jesus is not from God; and this is the spirit of antichrist, of which you have heard that it is coming, and now it is already in the world.”

If I were to say to you, I am Jane Doe who has come IN the flesh, wouldn’t that imply that I existed somewhere OUTSIDE the flesh? False prophets twist this scripture to merely state that Jesus Christ was a man of flesh. There’s too much proof to deny He never existed on earth. But to confess Jesus Christ has come IN the flesh would mean something entirely different ~ something divine. Some false prophets confess Jesus is God, but then deceive the followers with twisted doctrine, in that they also deny that the Holy Spirit is God. If Jesus was conceived by the Holy Spirit, and yet is called God’s Son, is that Spirit not the Spirit of God? Islam believes Jesus is a prophet and NOT the Son of God.  Furthermore, they believe the Holy Spirit is their prophet Muhammad. Jehovah’s Witnesses and Seventh Day Adventists believe Jesus is Michael the Archangel; Mormons believe Jesus is one of three separate persons of God; the list goes on and on. I believe Jesus is God and here’s why:

Jesus is NOT an Angel

Hebrews 1:13 states that God said, “But to which of the angels has He ever said, ‘SIT AT MY RIGHT HAND, UNTIL I MAKE THINE ENEMIES A FOOTSTOOL FOR THY FEET?’”.

Hebrews 12:2 “Let us fix our eyes on Jesus, the author and perfecter of our faith, who for the joy set before Him endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God.”

Hebrews 1:6 also states, “And when He again brings the first-born into the world, He says, ‘AND LET ALL THE ANGELS OF GOD WORSHIP HIM.’”

Now, compare this to Revelation 22:8-9 “And I, John, am the one who heard and saw these things.  And when I heard and saw, I fell down to worship at the feet of the angel who showed me these things.  And he said to me, ‘Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and of your brethren the prophets and of those who heed the words of this book; worship God.’”

The Fallen Angel

Galatians 1:8 “But even though we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we have preached to you, let him be accursed.”

1 Corinthians 11:13-15 “For such men are false apostles, deceitful workers, disguising themselves as apostles of Christ. And no wonder, for even Satan disguises himself as an angel of light [Greek word phos (foce); to shine or make manifest, especially by rays, luminousness:-fire, light]. Therefore it is not surprising if his servants (angels or men) also disguise themselves as servants of righteousness; whose end shall be according to their deeds.”

John 8:12; John 9:5; John 12:46 all state that Jesus is the light [Greek word phos (foce); to shine or make manifest, especially by rays, luminousness:-fire, light] of the world.

Do you know that Lucifer is the Hebrew word heylel (hey-lale’); the morning star. Now, let’s look at Revelation 22:16 “I, Jesus, have sent My angel to testify to you these things for the churches. I am the root and the descendant of David, the bright morning star.”

So, all these churches and doctrines out there that seem to be walking in the light, those who don’t believe Jesus Christ is indeed GOD, are deceived by Heylel.

PROOF that JESUS is GOD

Jesus is God with Us

Isaiah 7:14 “”Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Immanuel (with us is God).

Isaiah 9:6 “For a child will be born to us, a son will be given to us; And the government will rest on His shoulders; And His name will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Eternal Father, Prince of Peace.”

Luke 1:31 “And behold, you will conceive in your womb and bear a son, and you shall name Him Jesus (Iesous; Yehoshua, the name of our Lord and two (three); same as Yehowshuwa meaning Yehovah saved).

John 1:1, 14 “In the beginning was the Word…the Word was GOD (Theos, the Supreme Divinity).” “And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us.” False teachers say this is supposed to read, “The Word was a god.” Well, let’s go on…

Jesus is I AM

Exodus 3:14 “And God (Elohiym: plural of the Supreme Divinity) said to Moses, “I AM WHO I AM”; and He said, ‘Thus you shall say to the sons of Israel, ‘I AM has sent me to you.”

John 8:58 “Jesus said to them, ‘Truly, truly, I say to you, before Abraham was born, I am.’” Notice He did not say, “I WAS”. “I AM” is the very name of GOD.

Prepare the Way for Yehovah

Isaiah 40:3 “A voice is calling, ‘Clear the way for the LORD (Yehovah) in the wilderness; Make smooth in the desert a highway for our God (Elohiym).”

Matthew 3:1-3 “Now in those days John the Baptist came, preaching in the wilderness of Judea, saying, ‘Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.’ For this is the one referred to by Isaiah the prophet, saying, ‘The voice of one crying in the wilderness, ‘Make ready the way of the LORD (Yehovah), Make His paths straight!’” (Confirmed in Mark 1:1-4; Luke 3:3-6; John 1:19-23)

John 1:29-31 “The next day he saw Jesus coming to him and said, “Behold, the Lamb of God who takes away the sin of the world! This is He on behalf of whom I said, ‘After me comes a Man who has a higher rank than I, for He existed before me.‘ I did not recognize Him, but so that He might be manifested to Israel, I came baptizing in water.”

God Forgives Sins

Isaiah 43:25 “I, even I, am the one who wipes out your transgressions for My own sake; And I will not remember your sins.”

Jeremiah 31:34 “They will not teach again, each man his neighbor and each man his brother, saying, ‘Know the LORD (Yehovah),’ for they will all know Me, from the least of them to the greatest of them,” declares the LORD (Yehovah), “for I will forgive their iniquity, and their sin I will remember no more.”

Micah 7:18 “Who is a God (Elohiym) like Thee, who pardons iniquity and passes over the rebellious act of the remnant of His possession? He does not retain His anger forever, because He delights in unchanging love. He will again have compassion on us; He will tread our iniquities under foot. Yes, Thou wilt cast all their sins into the depths of the sea.”

Mark 2:5, 7 “When Jesus saw their faith, He said to the paralytic, “Son, your sins are forgiven. But some of the scribes were sitting there and reasoning in their hearts, ‘Why does this man speak that way? He is blaspheming; who can forgive sins but God alone?” (confirmed in Luke 5:21)

Ephesians 1:7 “In Him [Jesus] we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of our trespasses, according to the riches of His grace.”

Who raised Jesus from the dead?

John 2:19-21 “Jesus answered them, “Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.” The Jews then said, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?” But He was speaking of the temple of His body.” Below, you will read Acts 17:30-31, which state God raised Jesus from the dead.  Then again, Romans 8:11 states the Spirit of God raised Him from the dead.  Is this contradictory?  No!  The Father, Son and Holy Ghost are one in the same God!

The Wrath of God

Revelation 6:16 “and they said to the mountains and to the rocks, ‘Fall on us and hide us from the presence of Him who sits on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb;”

Revelation 14:10, 19 “he also will drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is mixed in full strength in the cup of His anger; and he will be tormented with the fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb.”

The Judge

John 12:47-48 “If anyone hears My sayings and does not keep them, I do not judge him; for I did not come to judge the world, but to save the world. He who rejects Me and does not receive My sayings, has one who judges him; the Word I spoke is what will judge him at the last day.

Acts 17:30-31 “”Therefore having overlooked the times of ignorance, God is now declaring to men that all people everywhere should repent, because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man [Jesus] whom He has appointed, having furnished proof to all men by raising Him from the dead.”

See the Father

John 14:8-9 “Philip said to Him, Lord, show us the Father, and it is enough for us.’ Jesus said to him, ‘Have I been so long with you, and yet you have not come to know Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; how do you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father is in Me?”

Who do you say that I AM?

If you’ve read all this information and feel like you may have very well been deceived by the leaders you’ve followed for weeks, months, years….I know it can be PAINFUL to find out someone has either intentionally or unintentionally lied to you. I tend to believe the latter. People are deceived, meaning they don’t know better until the truth is revealed. The Deceiver is behind it and is the father of lies. I pray the Lord opens your precious eyes. “Open our eyes, Lord; we want to see Jesus!”
