Two things I know for sure:
1) God is perfect and does not make mistakes.
2) No matter how hard we try, we are not perfect and we make mistakes.
I fear I may have offended an online friend. She is a bright, witty, dear person. She is married and never had children; however, she works in an after school program with elementary age children.
She had posted a little about their family vacation that included being at a campground with her husband’s family. He has a number of siblings, therefore he also has a number of nieces and nephews.
She made a comment on how rowdy and noisy the children were, even in the mess hall. As I read her comment, I was dealing with the fact I had seven for the weekend, ranging in age from five to thirteen. We live in a small space and if the front door had opened once that Saturday morning, it had opened 7852 times! The door on the fridge was running a close second place!
And I’m thinking, what noise? My answer to her post was rather….“flippant” – unfortunately.
A few nights before, I experienced one of those “awakening” moments that only comes from the Holy Spirit.
We were keeping our youngest granddaughter for the week. Her mother had to be out of town. Wednesday morning, about five, she woke up and came to our bedroom, wanting to be held. I fell back to sleep praying with her in my arms. She is still so tiny, or maybe it is because she is the youngest and I have forgotten the others were once this small. She’s petite.
A while later, I woke up and her little fingers were clamped to my neck and shoulder. She was sound asleep. And through tears I thought, “Father, I can’t imagine not getting to experience this. This is life.” In all the world, what is more important that being able to love one of His little ones?
Yes, they make noise and sometimes their noise drives me crazy! But I am thinking, their noise is music to His ears.
Still, I should have been more a tuned to my friend’s compliant.
We are all so different. The frame of reference that compiles our feelings and thoughts varies so much, sometimes we fail to see the common ground we all share.
I am glad God’s mercies are new every morning.
Mary, I did not mean to hurt your feelings. Please forgive me.
A man who has friends must himself be friendly, But there is a friend who sticks closer than a brother. Proverbs 18:24

Good post! Thanks for getting so personal. I think that's the best way to be an encouragement to others – simply share what God is teaching you.
Thank you, Jordan for the encouraging words. It seemed so simple, but some times it is the simple things that trip us up….
something about the "little foxes stealing the vine."
Blessings,
