This is a common mantra for moms.  It’s never done.  My family of 4 can easily manage two loads a day, on average.  One way to save is to wash all but the dirtiest of clothes on cold/cold cycle.  Another thing to keep in mind is not overloading the wash.  The clothes won’t get as clean and the dryer will work itself to death.  Split up a huge load into two medium loads and it will make for a happier mom because it’s easier to manage the folding and putting away before everything gets horribly wrinkled and hours need to be spent ironing.

Personally, I’ve also adopted the method of clothes washing that nothing goes into the dryer unless I’m sure to be home when it’s finished.  I haven’t pulled out the ironing board for a good long while because stuff goes directly from the dryer to the hanger.  Save money and frustration.
