God Is Still In Control!

As I am writing this, I am doing my best not to be shouting from the roof tops. But maybe it is time we did just that.

Today is Thursday, July 30, 2009, on our calendar. On the Hebrew calendar it is the 9th of Av, the fast of the fifth month. Many of us know  something concerning the major feasts and fasts of the Bible. So, what is so special you would want to shout, you ask? Good question! Please allow me to explain.

Zec 8:19 says, “Thus saith the LORD of hosts; The fast of the fourth month, and the fast of the fifth, and the fast of the seventh, and the fast of the tenth, shall be to the house of Judah joy and gladness, and cheerful feasts; therefore love the truth and peace.”

The three weeks just prior to the 9th of Av (today) are known as the time of “Dire Straits.” Over the course of history, many terrible things have happen to the Jewish people during the three weeks leading up to and including the 9 of Av.

On the 17 of Tammuz (July 9 of this year), marks the day daily sacrifice was stopped in the temple, as there were no sheep due to the siege of Nebuchadnezzar.

It was on this date they worshipped the golden calf and Moses came down from the mountain and broke the two stone tablets.

Traditionally this is also the day King Manasseh, one of the worst kings in Israel, erected an idol in the Temple.

And in more recent times, the 17th of Tammuz marked the start of the Lebanon War.

On the 9th of AV the following events happened:

Moses sent the twelve spies into the Promise Land. Only two, Joshua and Caleb, brought back a good report. Because of their lack of faith, the people were punished that their generation would not enter the Promise Land, thus resulting in wandering in the Wilderness for forty years.

The First Temple built by Solomon was destroyed by the Babylonians in 586 BC. Judeans were sent into the Babylonian exile.

The Second Temple was destroyed by the Romans in 70 AD, scattering the people and was the beginning of Jewish exile from Israel. (Same date, 656 years after the First Temple.)

Bar Kokhba’s revolt against Rome failed in 135 AD.

In 1290, the Jews were expelled from England.

The Alhambra Decree of 1493, expelling the Jews from Spain, took effect on the 7th of Av. Queen Isabella even persuaded other countries to refuse entry to the exiled Jews.

In 1914 Germany declared war on Russia and the Swiss army mobilized. WWI caused unprecedented devastation across Europe and set the stage for WWII and the Holocaust.

On the eve of Tisha B’Av 1942, the mass deportation began of Jews from the Warsaw Ghetto, en route to Treblinka.

On the day after Tisha B’Av in 2005, Israel began the expulsion of Gush Katif residents in the Gaza Strip.

So what are you getting at, Cheryl?

Again, excellent question! Let me explain

From God’s Word and from history, we are able to see certain cycles and patterns. And realizing that, brings me to what I am wanting to shout about!

The First Sign

In the early part of April, of this year, Fox News revealed a striking picture made available by the Hubble Space Telescope. You may remember it, as pictures of “The Crown of Thorns Galaxy” were plentiful on the news and over the internet.

Could this be a sign? After all the Bible says, “The heavens declare the glory of God.” (Psalm 19) It worked for the Wise Men.

The Second Sign

As amazing as I believe the Crown of Thorns Galaxy to be, one hundred and five days later on July 22, we have a solar eclipse. Oddly enough, the news media (in the United States) hasn’t had much to say concerning the eclipse. The eclipse, mind you that happened during the time of Dire Straits.

The solar eclipse, that took place between two lunar eclipses, one occurring in early July and one occurring in early August.

Generally it is believed a lunar eclipse is related to Israel. A solar eclipse on the other hand, relates to those of us using the solar (sun, Gregorian) calendar.

The eclipse lasted for just over six minutes. Six is the Biblical number of man.

In the words of Dr. Dell Sanchez, “The BBC showed amazing video footage of the manner in which this eclipse took place. At the end of this footage, guess what clearly and unequivocally showed up – The Star of David! Yes, the six-pointed star also known as the Magen David Star. It was a brilliant and most glorious demonstration of light coming out of the very sun’s corona. In Spanish, corona means crown.”

It is true, in just a little over one hundred days, we have two very significant signs revealed in the heavens. First, we have the Crown of Thorns Galaxy and just the past week we have the Star of David. The footage for the eclipse is nothing short of miraculous!

Dr. Sanchez continues, “The sun’s corona turned into the Star of David which shined so clear you didn’t have to guess what it was. It was clearly defined and lasted a few seconds before it hid behind the sun.”

Are these signs prophetic? I believe they are. I also believe they are connected to the time known as Dire Straits. I believe we are witnessing a shift, a spiritual shift of some sort, that will have its affect in the natural or physical and possibly very soon.

We are at a pivotal time in history, as we see once more nation after nation coming against Israel. We even see it in our own government. I believe God is warning the nations, all nations that He is still sovereign.

I was listening to a radio show yesterday, that was talking about how outdated the Bible and religious beliefs are. They were mostly talking about population control…abortion, sterilization, planned parenthood.., and stating how many more billion people would inhabit the Earth by year 2040. I had to laugh. Like God doesn’t know how many people will inhabit the Earth by a certain date?! The God who knows the number of grains of sand, knows all the stars by name and even knows the number of hairs on my head.

I am afraid we are a pompous lot! We have come to the conclusion that once again, we are smarter than the Almighty.

Mostly, I want to shout, “Wakeup, people.” And it disturbs me the lack of news coverage we received concerning this fascinating eclipse that took place. Instead we are spoon fed (baby food) about Obama’s ugly jeans, Depp to play a vampire, the latest take on Michael’s death, or Obama trying to bury political woes with talk of a “beer summit.” Please..

Please deliver us, Lord.
